We are delighted to invite you to the next in our popular GP Evening Update Series on Tuesday, 14th May 2024.  This session is open to all healthcare staff and students.


19:00:  Welcome and introductions: Dr. Sonia Cherian, GP CPD Adviser

19:05: Heart disease in Women: Presentation by Dr. Louise Buchanan, Consultant Cardiologist, North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust

19:40: Improving women’s heart health in NHS Dumfries and Galloway: Discussion by Dr. Jenna McMinn, Consultant Cardiologist and Dr. Heather Currie, Locum Consultant Gynaecologist

20:00: Q&A session with Dr. Louise Buchanan, Dr. Heather Currie & Dr. Jenna McMinn

Learning Outcomes:

Understand the importance of the growing problem of heart disease in women as per the Women’s Health Strategy and Women’s Health Plan for Scotland

  1. Recognition of the need for better identification and treatment of hypertension in women
  2. Increased awareness of the role of pregnancy, menopause and gynaecology in women’s heart health
  3. Improved understanding of blood pressure targets and best management practice in primary care

2 hours of CPD credits can be claimed by participating delegates for their annual appraisal once the post-course evaluation is submitted. Certificate of attendance is not a requirement as evidence.

To comply with SEALS (Standards for Educational Activity and Learning in Scotland), kindly complete the pre-course needs assessment and post-course evaluation forms.
